Koi Pond was born from a single sound (a digital recreation of a Wurlitzer, in the sound designer's idea at least) that I found browsing the presets of my favourite VST: the wonderful SQ8L. Maybe it's my favourite synth because I have a Mac and it's only for Windows, so I spend insane amounts of time looking for new and inventive ways of making it work in my DAW, so I give it the most attention and then I find some hidden, very 80s sounding gems. The rest of the track was built on this riff, and for the drums I tried to recreate something that could have been in a Maniacs Of Noise 90s release. Add some Mango-ish early digital pluck sound with a sprinkle of nonlin reverb and voilà, that's it, a whole Koi Pond worth of retro, relaxed, mysterious and ethereal goodness :)
