The year was 1992, my friend booted up his Amiga and said "you gotta see this". The intro to Enigma by Phenomena rolled, and my jaw hit the floor. The soundtrack just blew my mind. It just sounded so expressive and had this amazing timbre to it that just pulled me in.
At the time I was a blooming jazz nerd, and one of my biggest influences was what I'd call "Primetime Jazz", the kind of glitzy, über-professional kind of big band experience you'd pretty much only get on TV.
I just thought it'd be fun to marry these two worlds, and reimagine A Final Hyperbase as if it was to be performed on primetime TV in the 1990:s. The biggest challenge was obviously all the tempo transitions, but hey. I've never met a drum solo I didn't like.
